The Tree and The Heart
A cinematic title sequence for The Tree and the Heart, inspired by The Giving Tree
Title Sequence | Visual Storytelling | Motion Graphics
The Brief
As part of the course, we were asked to choose a well-known children’s story and reinterpret it to create a title sequence for a new film. The sequence had to be conceptually and visually independent while still drawing inspiration from the original story. The aim was to explore how a familiar narrative can be deconstructed and reimagined into a new cinematic world, shaped through an original and contemporary visual language.

The Idea & The Outcome
I chose The Giving Tree as my inspiration and developed a title sequence for a new film titled The Tree and the Heart. The concept stemmed from the relationship between memory, personal artifacts, and hidden family secrets. I envisioned a town where residents leave letters in memory of their loved ones on an ancient tree. A mysterious letter falling from the tree leads a young woman into a journey of uncovering her family’s past. The design language combined natural elements such as wood, paper, and ink with a cinematic and mysterious atmosphere, creating a dramatic and emotional opening sequence that immediately draws the viewer into the world of the film.
