Infographic Design Course | 2025

1/3 Is NOT Enough

An infographic article that tells the story of gender pay gaps in Israel’s high-tech industry through data, protest-inspired design, and a call for change.

Infographic Design | Data Storytelling | Gender Equality

The Brief

As part of the Infographic Design course, we were asked to work with large datasets and build a visual story from them. The challenge was to take raw, spreadsheet-based information and transform it into a clear narrative with a beginning, middle, and end, structured like an infographic article. The goal was to demonstrate how data can become a tool for storytelling that highlights social, cultural, or political issues.

The Idea

I chose to focus on gender pay gaps in Israel, based on data from the Taub Center (2014–2018) and updated research from the Israel Innovation Authority (2024). From this information emerged a clear statement: women still make up only one-third of employees in high-tech, and gender disparities remain. The narrative was built in three stages a beginning, middle, and end to illustrate both the depth of the problem and the urgent need for change.

Women in High-Tech: A Status Report for 2024, Innovation Authority

The Outcome

The project took the form of an infographic article that transforms raw statistics into a protest-driven and personal story. In terms of design, people were represented as circles the simplest and most fundamental shape emphasizing both the anonymity of data and its human dimension. Alongside this, typography with a protest-like character was chosen, yet kept soft and rounded, inspired by feminine handwriting. The result is a visual language that bridges statistical accuracy with human experience, turning numbers into a powerful statement on women in high-tech.
